During Biology class today, my form teacher told everyone in the class that we had to sell those Family Day coupons. I was whining out loud as I was already given too many coupon booklets to sell. I told my form teacher that I do not have many acquaintances. I also added that I am an antisocialist in which she retorted:
Allah! You kan ada banyak kawan? Saya pernah baca blog kamu. Juallah kat kawan-kawan blog you tu!
(God! Don’t you have a lot of friends? I’ve read your blog. Sell to those blog friends of yours!)
Imagine the gobsmacked look on my face when I found out that my form teacher is a secret reader of my blog. I had the shock of my life. I almost got a heart attack and died.
I asked her to list all the blog posts she had read. And her answer? — “SEMUA!” (all)
She mentioned that she particularly loved the one on the Biology frog dissection experiment.
I am shocked but at the same time, I find it super awesome and cool that teachers from my school read my blog.
So anyways… I’ve gotten back all of my mid term examination papers. Did well for everything except for my Science subjects and Add Math. I am still not giving up. I am still pushing myself. Go, Matthew, go!
Just wanna share with you the essay I wrote for the English composition paper. It’s just another of those “Matthew’s-vision-for-the-country” moments on my blog so you are not subjected to read it.
How Can I Help Make The World a Better Place to Live In?
Before I begin my essay, allow me to express how happy and thrilled am I to be given this topic to write about. Align with my ambitious dream to become the future Prime Minister of my country, I strongly believe that there are many ways one could to do help the world progress for a brighter future. Though we are so fortunate to be living in Malaysia whereby we can walk on the streets knowing that we are always save and protected, nonetheless we must always continue to work hard to sustain that peace and harmony our forefathers have fought so hard for. Also, we should never forget that there are also many underprivileged people living on the other side of the glob who are deprived of such luxury and comfort.
And therefore, I, as someone who cares for this glorious world of ours would set a good example to the rest of the world. I believe that I have what it takes to inspire the people around me. How? For a start, I would promote the importance of perseverance, hard work and determination. I believe that these values are the key to success and the ticket to excellence. I truly believe from the bottom of my heart that if we all strive together — yes we can make a difference! This is so important as we, the youngsters of today are the future leaders of tomorrow — leaders who are going to determine the fate of this world.
Moreover, as a great leader I hope to be, I would promote the importance of mutual understanding. As this world comprises of people of many different races, religion, beliefs, cultures and background, it is very important that everybody — regardless of nationality, race and creed — to understand the vitality of mutual understanding and respect. In order to make this world a better place to live in, we have to stand as one. We have to learn to love, to give and to share. God made us all equal. According to the Bible, there is no man or woman more superior to the other.
Furthermore, I would also assist those who are in need and echo the importance of helping the needy. In the Republic of Zambia, millions of young ones die due to Malaria every year. In the suburb of Kerala, Republic of India, one out of a hundred die of hunger and starvation daily. In our very own country itself, there are many who are jobless and are currently living in the streets and on the sidewalks. These people are desperate for help. These people need us. And it is only the right thing to do as sentient beings to lend a helping hand and show sympathy towards the disenfranchised.
Last but not least, as the future leader of tomorrow, I would practice democracy and equal rights under my leadership. I strongly believe that everybody should be given the rights to speak, to choose and to voice out their opinions. It is through democracy that fresh thoughts and new ideas can be generated. It is through democracy that this country will continue to prosper and propel to greater heights.
In conclusion, everyone should play a role in making this world a better place to live in. Based on everything that I have done and intend to do, I hope that I can make a difference. Come on people — let’s just forget our differences and walk hand-in-hand towards world peace and harmony. Let there be no war. Let there be no tears. Let there be no bloodshed.

Sounds clichéd and a bit self-indulgent at some parts but it was an essay I felt really really really passionate about writing. Scored 40/50 for this. NOOOOO!!! My teacher initially gave me a 44/50 but replaced the digit 4 with a big fat 0. Total injustice!

You should be able to see 44 if you really really really look at it closely.
My teacher told me that my essay was not 44/50-worthy because my points were too general and that I failed to give her a detailed standpoint of what I would do to make the world a better place. She said I should write on stuffs like “built machines to help the agriculture sector”, “improve the transportation system” and yadda yadda. SUPER TECHNICAL. I hate hate hate hate HATEEEEEEE to write essays like that.
