Throughout the nomination period, I have created and reinforced duty systems which I believe will work out for the better of the students and my fellow colleugues (e.g. moving the body and bag check procedures back to the guard house). Throughout the nomination period, I have fought for deserving people whose hard work I feel should be appreciated. Throughout the nomination period, I have worked so hard for my dreams to come true. Whilst chasing for that dream of mine, I have learned many things – positive character traits which I believe has made me a better and a more wholesome person.
I’ve given my all. I’ve never worked so hard for something in my life (other than PMR). With all things considered, I have no regrets.
Ok, thinking about it again. I wished that I did better in my interview. I wished that I told all the things I wanted to say to the interviewers (I expected more questions). I wished that I stepped up a little more. I wished that I did not stay under the radar. I swore to myself not to care about what everybody around me think of me. But still everything I do, I contemplate. Everything I do, I hesitate. Because I WAS still afraid of criticisms and condemnations.
Like I said in the above, I have learned a lot throughout the nomination period (especially when the nomination period hits its last two weeks).
Being a nominee to be selected into my school’s Prefectorial board is a tough job. It has been a long journey. I have faced my ups and downs. I have been discriminated against based on my past performance as a prefect. I have been mocked and jeered at during my nomination speech. From the beginning till the end (even before I was nominated), I was forced to deal with negativity. But never did I falter, break down and give up. Even when the whole world thinks that I can’t do it and it’s too hard and I am not up for the task (even my best friend said that), I smiled at them although deep down inside me, it hurts. I never once uttered or thought of saying the sentence “I quit”.
Ok, fine. I felt really defeated, beaten and subjugated a couple of times (but still I never EVER thought of quiting). But hey, at the end of the day I stood back up and continue fighting till where I am standing today. To the people who were there for me and who believed in me (sadly, very very few), I thank you.
And to Joanna Foo, the most recent Head Prefect, if you’re reading this, I endorse you. I’ve seen the way you work longer than any nominee has ever seen. I’ve worked with you longer than any nominee you have worked with (okay.. other than Aziemah). You totally deserve it more than anyone else do! You’ll get my support, sista!
And, congratulations to all nominees for CROSSING THE FINISHING LINE!

“A very good morning to Encik Mothar bin Jaafar, headmaster of SMKSU, Puan Rose Chai, SMKSU’s senior assistant, Puan Zaharah binti Yacob, senior assistant of student affairs, Encik Jacob Mathew, senior assistant of co-curiculum, Heads of subject departments, Puan Susela, our beloved prefect teacher and fellow friends.
Hi, my name is Matthew and I am a student of 4 Zeta. Recently, I have been nominated to be in the Prefectorial Board of Director of SMK Subang Utama of year 2008 and 2009. To everyone present in this all, I’ve made up my mind and I am running for – Head Prefect.

I have worked so hard. I did my very best. I’ve stretched my boundaries. Friends and teachers, today, I stand here before you, to let you know that yes, I am ready and yes I can! I believe that miracles with hard work, dreams do come true.

Since I first entered this school, I wanted to do many things and wanted to serve my school in many ways. And today, teachers, I promise – I alongside with my colleagues will help you fight against disciplinary problems. To Pengetua, I know how much you wish to see SMK. Subang Utama win the Sekolah Cemerlang title. Don’t worry sir, if we do not win this year, next year I promise I’ll help you claim that title for our school. Friends, I promise we, the prefects will perform our duties with respect and integrity. Lastly, to my fellow prefects, I promise that I will stand strong with you in every way that I can.

To the hundreds of you sitting down in this hall— Guys and girls, Form 3s, Form 4s and Form 5s, Prefects and Librarians – I need your support! I need your encouragement. And I need you to believe in me. I pledge my utmost and commitment to you.

I would like to thank everyone who believed in me – teachers and friends. Especially to Yongming. You stood by me through my ups and downs. Amelia, you believed in me like no one else did and you see the potential in me no one else sees. And lastly, Alya, remember when we were in form two, we went to Mexico with the rest. Just to let you know, the moments we shared together in Mexico, after two years, is still the best in my life.
And with that, thank you.“

You really wanna know how I felt being up there today? Traumatizing. And till now, it still haunts me.
One thing I am really proud of nonetheless is that I never bowed down to pressure or fear.

School [3] Comments
Today, which is the twelve of July, I visited my elementary school for the first time since 2006. It was an emotional and soppy day for me.
I was a former student of Sri Kuala Lumpur, a private school (yes I must stress on these two words) in Subang Jaya. I spent my grade school years here in Sri Kuala Lumpur for six years. Sri Kuala Lumpur offers junior high and high school but I chose to transfer anyways.
Recently Sri Kuala Lumpur had organized an event called the Charity Fiesta (also known as Charity Drive then). It is apparently a once-in-four/five-years thing. And I have been waiting patiently for this day to come since the last Charity Drive which I attended and was involved in (sold carbonated drinks. lol) which was in year 2004!
My sixth grade class photo.
(I am the guy in a green vest)
Woo hoo, I am extremely happy and pleased that I got to meet most of them face-to-face for the first time since.. like forever. And thankfully everybody remembered who I am (well only after I said “hi remember me?”)
Faris. Khairi. Ashley. Katherine. Malini. Michael. Xiu Li. Hendrich. Yu Ric. Wen Ji. Ryan. Samuel. Sean. Wan Mei. Nicholas. Heng Hau. Safia. Calvin. Rohit. Chai Leng. Elena. Pei Wuon. Nadine. Zue Yi. Livia. and etc.
…. are a few of my ex-classmates whom I’ve met today!
I met Hannah Yeoh, the State Assemblywoman of Subang Jaya… AGAIN. Ha ha.
Oh, I forgot to mention that I invited and brought three of my friends from Subang Utama High School to the Charity Drive in Sri Kuala Lumpur; i.e.: Amelia, Yongming and Elaine. Elaine brought her sister, Elisa along. I also met Shannon who is my school’s current Interact club I.U. Director. He, too, was a former student of Sri Kuala Lumpur. I met schoolmates Vishag and Phanit as well. Oh, and Leon Wong.
*I never took a picture this horridly in my life.*

Yongming & I – Primary school block canteen

myself and Brenda
“COUPONS Please buy here!” lol
Mrs. Catherine Tan & I,
(My librarian teacher adviser)
and I used to hate her! LOL.
Ok, another information you might not know about me. I was former Secretary of my elementary school’s Librarian Board. According to the Librarian Board hierarchy, I was supposedly the rightful President BECAUSE I was the youngest among my colleugues to be elected into the board.
TILL NOW I AM STILL DAMN PISSED OFF lorr.
Because of that woman and another woman (another Librarian teacher adviser. that one is even worst), I am relegated!

myself and Calvin N.,
(My best friend in elementary school)
Esther C., myself and Elena A.
(Classmates in fifth grade)

Xiu Li and I
(Classmate in sixth grade)

Ryan L. and I
(Classmate in second grade)
Pearly, Jordan and I
We were great friends in fifth grade and we were group mates in class. I remembered Pearly brought Trix (the cereal) and she shared them with the whole group (there were five of us) and we ate in class anddd our group was situated right in front of the teachers table. Pn. Rafeah, my class teacher then, got so annoyed till she shifted me to another group. Ha ha.
By the way, I met this super hot chic named
Liew Sher-Maine. Pearly’s friend. Well, actually I sorta seen her before in
friendster and The Star once or twice. Just wanna say thanks for the picture if you’re reading this. Ha ha.
Moving on….
Pn. Rafeah Ahmad.
(Class teacher in fifth and sixth grade)
Gosh, I MISSED HER SO MUCH MAN! LOL. Lets see.. she taught me Math, Malay language, Science, Geography & History (KT), Moral knowledge and Physical education.
Pn. Roziah Kamaruddin
(taught me science in fourth grade)
Also another favourite teacher of mine.
Pn. Norida
(taught me science in sixth grade)
Those three women are the best teachers I’ve had yet and most probably the best I’ll ever have in my life :’( Although, Pn. Kalwant, my English teacher last year, is probably my favorite teacher in high school.
I have other favourite teachers which I didn’t get to see today which are; Mrs. Wong, my sixth grade ICT teacher; Mrs. Chee, my first grade class teacher; Pn. Sabariah, my fourth grade class teacher and Pn. Rose, my third grade moral knowledge teacher.
After we checked out the games and fool stalls, I gave Yongming, Elaine, Elisa and Amelia an EXCLUSIVE tour around my former school. We went up the Primary school block. I was a happy tour guide

Former classroom: 6 Rambai
Oh, I spotted a class named “6 Limau (Lime)“. Omg. Odd. There were no ‘limes’ during my time.

Amelia, myself and Yongming

HAHA. I miss that flight of stairs so much!
