A year ago I wrote a memoir of my class, 2 Gamma, in my blog. And I guess it’s about time for me to write another one as 2007 is approaching to its end.

It has once again been another truly great and wonderful year being in the same class with the 36 similar faces, 36 similar voices and 36 similar personalities that I’ve came to know ever since in 7th grade.

Today, I am going to write my personal reflection on my first day in Subang Utama high school until thus far.

2005.

Coming from a private school, I stepped into the soils of Subang Utama, which happened to be a government school, with a typical rich brat attitude. It freaked the shit outta me to see the condition of the toilet and absence of an air-conditioner in the classroom. And I really missed Sri KL’s (former school) Indian cleaners.

My life in Subang Utama begun in January 2005.

A prefect dressed in green long-sleeved shirt with a complexion the color of cinnamon stood smartly in front of the hall holding a cardboard with the word “1 Gamma” written on it. I was first in line and right behind me was a petite boy whose name is Wan Jun. After several speeches from the teachers, the prefect guided the line to a classroom situated at the top of the block.

Since I was first in line, I possessed the privilege of choosing a seat before anyone else did. I chose a comfy spot right beside the window. Then minutes later, the seats in front, beside and behind me started to fill up. A lanky lad namely Lih Shyan was the one who sat beside me. Quite the opposite, the person seated behind me was a big-sized bloke named Zarul and his gay partner friend since primary school, Khaled.

During the first two months of school, I bonded with the two chaps, both Zarul and Khaled. We were a trio of good pals… until one day, our Malay language teacher ordered the class to form a group of 6 for a BM presentation. I was quickly absorbed into a group comprising of all Chinese boys;- Alan, Eng Khim, Wan Jun, Ryan and Yongming. Ever since then, I left the trio and stuck with the five Chinese boys who at first, looked all geeky to me.

The six of us were great buddies and still is until this day (except WJ lar.. duh!). We used to gather round a table and yakked all sorts of stupid stuffs with one another. A bunch of Chinese girls whom we were not really close with then were seen gossiping at the other side of the classroom.

In mid January, I enrolled myself on a probationary course in hopes of becoming a school prefect. And on one of the class duties, I stood behind the classroom and encountered on a rather darked-skinned (and shiny. lol) lass with gleaming teeth as she smiles. I timidly muttered hi (wasn’t courting her f.y.i) and she turned her back behind and replied me.

(I know.. I have been a bad probate. Class duty oso talk.)

Anyways… the girl with the gleaming teeth soon became my best buddy and err.. we dated? harhar.

And few months later, the thing which was destined to happen happened. The two separate groups, one consisting of six Chinese lad and the other consisting of six Chinese lass (Marissa, Yee Leng, Adrienne, Wei Lian, Yvonne and Sheng) merged into one. Later, Hon Sang, Lih Shyan and Yew Han got themselves on board into the group and the fifteen of us generated a hip gang of kuning-langsat people.

Haha. Giler kurang ajar.

2006.

At the end of 2005, I bonded with Alya, another classmate of mine. She was a witty and reliable friend. Her personality is pretty similar to mine and we tend to share the same opinion and laugh at the same person: Hanisah. Harhar. As we were close friends, I was automatically dragged along into her group of friends. And through Alya, I grew closer to Farhana and Nadzlin.

One of the most spine-tingling event of the year occurred on March 9. It was an afternoon of heavy rain and strong wind. The tiles of the roof were seen flying in the air and water came splashing into the classroom. Haha.. and my jakun classmates built “The Great Gamma Wall” by stacking up tables in front of the door to prevent everyone in the classroom from hovering with the wind. And then there were some who stood near the door as guards =.= Then hours later, Pn Vasantha, a discipline teacher, came banging on our door and the “guards” opened it and whoala, The Great Gamma Wall greeted her instead.

And then she came screaming “EMERGENCY!! EMERGENCY!! GO DOWN!!!” at our faces with a cane in her hand.

Gosh I look like a duck! Everyone, close your eyes!

The best days of life by far were the days when I was in Mexico, representing my nation in a leadership conference with 5 of my fellow classmates. I will never forget the day when Alya broke into my suite to wake me up as I was caged in dreamland and was unable to answer the endless knockings on my door. And.. and… Alya bought a tub of ice-cream from Walmart and Nadzlin, herself and I shared it together while watching Spongebob in Spanish. Haha. Anddd… I intruded Hanisah’s suite and jumped on her bed.

After we came back from Mexico, we emerged as the sovereign six. Our friendship grew closer than ever!

Afterwards, Nadia and Farhana eventually left the Gamma clan….

… leaving the previous 2 Gamma with 36 people.

2007.

After two years having Pn. Akmaliza as our class teacher, the remaining 36 of us were place under Pn. Sulo’s guidance and management. She was not only our class teacher but she also taught us Science throughout the year as well.

Well I doubt she’ll be reading this ‘cos I rarely have readers in their 40s or 50s (except for Sheng’s mom) She’s an awesome and sporting class teacher. And all our activities throughout the year may perhaps not come true without her. With that being said, thank you Pn Sulo!! Thank you!!

Despite having the fact that PMR is around the corner looming in our heads, we never failed to have fun.

One of the proudest moment being in 3 Gamma to me is to see the class joint effort during gotong-royong and the class’s MOST PERVERT & ANNOYING guy, Leon, to help us clean the barren and grassless field.

Teamwork :D

Then on July 7, our school organized a family day. Each class were told to open up a stall to raise funds on that day. 3 Gamma is popularly known as one of the best classes among the other 9th grade classes for our creativity, intelligence and solidarity. And our unity and teamwork clearly outshine the rest during the family day.

Our stall.

And it’s really amazing to see how we can work so well with each other despite our different skin color, race, ethnicity, religion and personal beliefs.

And our hard work paid off as our class was announced the winner for two categories during assembly; one for outstanding unity and another one for being the class with the highest number of coupon sold.

Next, we had a class high tea in Sunway which I paid $30 for.

Although I was utterly late to the party and did not spend much time with my classmates during the high tea and only ate A MISERABLE BOWL OF ICE-CREAM, I still felt pleased and happy.

Few weeks later, Wan Jun was the next and final Gamma(ian/rien) to leave the Gamma clan.

Unity.

As a (former) good friend of Wan Jun, I stayed back with him for a moment and strolled around the school with him for the very last time (despite LOOSING MY GLASSES on the very same day) And gosh! If I knew of his ungratefulness from the start, I swear I would be the first one to head home.

And on October 1, in this exact classroom, 20 gentlemen from 3 Gamma, including me, sat for our national examination.

And on the October 7, the 20 of us walked out of the classroom/exam hall as freedmen and together we bade goodbye to PMR for good.

On the last days of our schooling day, we partied in the country’s historic state, marvelous Malacca.

We partied….

on the bus…

(I look like crap. Close your eyes again!)
… in the museum…

… and in the fort.

Keep that smile on your faces always ok?!

I am gonna miss all of you :’( I am gonna miss the usual people who just looove to yell “RAIN LAH WEH!” at me whenever I open my mouth to sing… and and oh! not forgetting Natalie and Annie’s expression each time I do any stupid dance moves.

3 Gamma, forever and ever and ever and ever!!!

I don’t know how many of you are reading this or who’s reading this, just to let y’all know, I entered SMKSU refusing to believe that I’ll meet such great people like you. But to study in the same class with you for 3 long years is just a blessing. I trust that our friendship will be a long-lasting one.

I hope y’all will all be placed in the same class as I am next year. And good luck in achieving excellent results for PMR.
